Typhoon: the morning after

California is well known for many things, for example Hollywood, San Francisco, Napa Valley, Yosemite, Alcatraz, and last but not least, earthquakes! I remember the large earthquake that struck in 1989. I had just woken up from an after school nap. As I stood up, the ground began to sway. I felt like I was on an amusement park ride, yet I was standing still in my living room. After a few seconds, the earth was at rest, and it was over.

A typhoon on the other hand seems so much more scary to me. Instead of seconds, the strong winds and pelleting rain can last for hours; well into the night! Fallen trees and knocked down power lines are no fun. I took this picture while out buying groceries the morning following a typhoon. The power of nature is truly awesome, isn’t it?
